Four’s age bumped up to 24

There was much controversy about Theo James portraying Four in the movie adaptation of Divergent. There was a lot of questioning how he could play an eighteen year old – some interesting news came to light in an interview with Shailene Woodley.

Thanks to our SOURCE, we got to learn this news.

They’ve in fact bumped up the age of Four in the film. This is kind of like marmite, you’ll either like or hate the idea. I think they’re very clever for doing it personally!

Shailene Woodley said: “Theo James, who plays my love interest in the film, is 28. In the book his character is about 18, but in the movie we’re making him about 24, or 25. He’s kind of ageless in a way. Even though in the book Tris is 16, we never really allude to the fact that she’s that young… this film has a kind of maturity to it. People constantly compare us to Hunger Games and I think that’s awesome. It kicked ass and Jen Lawrence is amazing. I think it’s a big compliment.”

What do you think of this news? I personally don’t think it will affect the film.

Let’s be honest, we all love Theo but he doesn’t look 18 certainly.
Here at Fandomsnews we are wondering if they’ll be adjusting Tris’ age in the movie. It could be entirely possible they change the choosing ceremony to 18 to allow for the fact Four is older now. A 16 and 24 year old love interest could spark some whole new controversy!
We are sure they have all this planned out though.

This may mean the other characters in the movie will have their ages changed but thankfully, correct age isn’t hugely necessary in this film. It would have made The Hunger Games a whole new movie if they’d changed those ages!
